It has been a long year for everyone and kids are tired of being indoors. If your goal is to keep your child active through summer break, you're in luck! ​

Our full-day camps got you covered! Loaded with all kinds of fun activities your kids will never be bored this summer.



Registration for camps will begin June 28th, 2021.

All weeks will have a 7:00 - 7:30 am Drop off and a 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm Pick up.

All camps will have enough space for 40 kids a day per week. 


Summer Camp A - July 26th - 30th

Summer Camp B - August 2nd - 6th 

Summer Camp C - August 9th - 13th 

Summer Camp D - August 16th - 20th

Summer Camp E - August 23rd - August 27th




Each child can enroll in any or all of the sessions offered. A waitlist will be available for consideration if space allows for additional placements. 


  • Camp Schedules consist of one week of planned activity and rotation for camp leaders and campers. 

  • Children will be grouped. Each group will consist of 10 campers of the same age. Groups will be created in age groups of 5 - 8 and 9 - 12. 

  • Staff to child ratio is planned for 1: 7 (approx two leaders per group depending on need and age) 

  • Siblings can be assigned to the same small groups when reasonable or requested. (i.e siblings within the same age range). Siblings are not required to physically distance themselves from each other, even within the same small group. 

  • Planned camp activities will be similar with a different special feature every week to create diversity for kids who will be attending all summer. 

  • Many camp activities will be provided in an outdoor setting, as weather permits. We will ask parents to have their children come prepared for outdoor activities with appropriate attire. 

  • Outdoor sun safety policies will be followed. Water stations for filling personal water bottles and additional sunscreen will be provided during camp. 

  • Every effort will be made to provide inclusion support during camps where necessary. Due to public health directives related to COVID 19, camp spaces and inclusion leaders will be limited. As such, it may not be possible to accommodate all inclusion requests however we will do our very best to accommodate as many requests as possible. If your child requires one-to-one inclusion support, please let us know.




  • Camp activities may include activities such as arts/crafts, dance & fitness, music & culture, sports drills, outdoor games, themed visits (i.e reptile day) and much more. 

  • Camp activities will vary each week as groups rotate through activity stations. 




  • Camps are open to children between the ages of 5 - 12 who are currently enrolled in school.

  • Camps for pre-school-aged children are not being offered this summer due to difficulty enforcing Nova Scotia Public Health physical distancing requirements for this age group. 

  • Indoor and Outdoor programming will be available for various age groups and families this summer. Please see separate communication for further information on these programs. 




  • $108 - $135 per week plus HST (five full-day sessions)

  • Register by phone by calling Lake Echo Community Recreation Centre at 902-829-2512 and submit payment through transfer.

  • Register in person at the Lake Echo Community Recreation Centre. At the facility, we have transfer, debit or cheque payment options available. We are trying to avoid cash payments as much as possible. 



  • Should a cancellation be required, all registrants will be provided cancellation instructions in their summer camp information package upon registration which will explain in further detail. 

  • Children should not come to camp if sick. Prorated refunds will be provided for any days that a child cannot attend camp due to illness. 

  • If there are cases of COVID 19 at the camp and the camp is cancelled, a pro-rated refund will be provided. 

  • Families need to monitor their camper daily for any symptoms for COVID 19, as identified on the provincial 811 websites. Parents/Guardians will be asked daily to confirm that their camper has no symptoms and is not required to otherwise self-isolate. 

  • If a camp participant does not respect physical distancing guidelines and other public health directives, the participant will be sent home without a refund. 

  • All camps will be moved to an indoor location in the event of rain or less than desirable weather. 




  • Questions can be emailed to both and 

  • A registration information package containing information on your weekly day camp will be forwarded to registrants in advance of the camp start date. The package will contain information that will require a parent/guardian signature and must be returned prior to the adventure camp start date. Non-receipt of signed forms and waivers may result in a withdrawal from the day camp. 




  • All camps will operate according to Public Health Day Camp Guidelines (included in the registration package). When possible and weather permitting, the bulk of camp activities will be held outdoors. A two-meter distance between each camp group (cohort) will be maintained.

  • Any group activities will allow for physical distancing and activities that cluster around an item or small area will be avoided. 

  • The use of non-medical masks (cloth or homemade masks) within the day camp setting is not required where physical distancing is maintained. However, some children may choose to bring and wear a nonmedical mask while at camp. 

  • Group sizes will not exceed the maximum gathering limits set out in the Health Protection Act Order (currently 10, including both camper and staff) 




  • All camps will have designated entrance and exit plans and washroom use will be monitored to limit capacity within these spaces 

  • Frequent hand washing or hand sanitizing by campers and staff will be taught, reinforced and monitored. 

  • Campers will be reminded to cover coughs and sneeze with a tissue. If a tissue isn’t available, cough or sneeze into elbows, not hands. 

  • Campers will be encouraged to avoid touching their mouth, nose and eyes during the summer day camp. 

  • Equipment and/or supplies will be managed and cleaned with appropriate disinfecting cleaner before and after use and between-group transitions. 




  • If a child developed symptoms while attending camp, the child will be isolated from other children and the parent/guardian will be notified to collect the child immediately

  • If a child requires close contact and care, staff will continue to care for the child until the parent/guardian is able to pick them up. 



  • Drop-off and pick-up procedures will be implemented at the beginning and end of each day. 

  • Campers are to be dropped off between 7:00 am - 7:30 am at the front doors and brought in for sign-in screening and sanitation. 

  • At pick up, Campers will be brought to the gymnasium space to wait for parents and guardians to arrive. 

  • There should be no non-essential visitors at summer camp. Parents/guardians are asked to minimize any time spent at the facility. Besides events that may occur when parents/guardians may attend. 

  • Handsanitizer will be placed at all entrances and exits for use by staff, parents/guardians, and other essential visitors.
